    Behind the Scenes

I am finding myself in some very unfamiliar territory. Oh and remember I am living on the island, so I also feel like I am not on my home turf. I don’t want to feel alone in this. So…I am reaching out to you my blog friends and family! Some of you have had some peaks into the behind the scenes…but I have decided I am inviting you all in. Yep! Mainly because I NEED you. I need your advice, your expertise, and your wisdom. Most importantly I need you all to keep me CALM. Here’s the current status: The book that took me forever and a day to write,…

    Well Done

What will you be remembered for? What have you done to impact the world around you? Are you living your life on purpose? I think at the core of each one of us, we want to live a good life. One that matters. One that makes a difference. This earth lost an amazing man. But I know all of heaven is throwing a huge welcome home party! Billy Graham. A voice of encouragement. A man on a mission. A life lived on purpose. A legacy left.     “My one purpose in life is to help people find a personal relationship with God, which I believe comes from knowing Christ.”—Billy…

    The Real Issue

I am an American born and bred girlie. I grew up in a home with guns. My daddy used them for target practice, a sporting event. He kept them locked up in a gun cabinet. I am married to The Engineer and he also grew up with guns in the home. His dad used them to hunt. Those guns were also locked up in a cabinet. Our family currently is living on an island where there are little to no guns. The police do not even carry them. My heart is breaking, from my perspective we are bickering about something that truly needs more action and less talk and arguing.…

    2018 Winter Olympics

I’m watching the 2018 Winter Olympics in the middle of summer here on the island. Anyone else watching the Olympics? I LOVE to watch these talented athletes show off their years of hard work on the biggest stage there is. I cheer them on as if they were my own sons and daughters. I was able to sit down and be entertained by the snowboarders yesterday and see Red Gerard, the 17 year old American, earn a Gold medal for the U.S.A. I will be cheering on the Americans because they are my homies, the Canadians because they are my neighbors I grew up with, and the Kiwi’s too because…

    Punching holes in the darkness

A few weeks ago I heard a story about Robert Louis Stevenson, author of such literary work like Treasure Island. Robert was a Scottish boy growing up in the 19th century. Robert would sit and watch out the window as the lamplighters would work their way down the streets with their torches bringing the street lamps to light. One night his parents noticed him and asked him what he was doing. And very excitedly Robert exclaimed, “Look at that man! He’s is punching holes in the darkness!”       These past few weeks this story has been soaking into my mind, heart and soul. Punching holes in…

    My Side of the Fence

My neighbor had planted her sunflower plants in her garden and shared some of her extra with me. When they came to me they were tiny little seedling plants. There were 3 of them. I planted them along the fence line. I watered them regularly and allowed the sunshine to do its thing. My neighbor’s plants grew tall very fast. Taller and faster than mine. Hers even opened and bloomed first. Big beautiful yellow flowers. I was waiting. Trying to be patient. I questioned if I planted them in the right spot? Was I giving them enough water? Too much water? I had The Engineer secure them with some rope…
