On Purpose Everyday

The Comeback

I am here to let you all in on a secret that I have been keeping.
After my visit with my physiotherapist yesterday I feel like I am in a safe spot to share this.
I have been back to running.
I am not fast. I am not doing incredibly long distances. However, I have converted from miles over to kilometers on my Run Keeper App…when in New Zealand speak the lingo!
But I have been for a few runs.
It has been over 2 years since I have ran. But my back has healed and it staying stable. I have worked hard over the past two years to keep my body physically safe and healthy.

Yesterday morning while I was running the song, The Comeback by Danny Gokey started playing through my ear buds.
These words met my soul. Truly.
Read these words. Better yet go listen to the song on YouTube.

After a season of night falls and push backs
After the heartache of wrong turns and sidetracks
Just when they think they’ve got you game set match
Here comes the comeback
Just cause you lay low got up slow unsteady
Don’t mean you blacked out or bought out you’re ready
Just when they think there’s nothing left running on empty
Here comes the comeback

This is your time your moment
The fire the fight your golden
You’ve come so far keep going
Oh here comes the comeback

You feel the lightning the thunder you’re soul shakes
Under the roar of the heaven the tide breaks
And from the ashes you will take your place
Here comes the comeback

This is your time your moment
The fire the fight you’re golden
You’ve come so far keep going
Oh here comes the comeback

There is no mountain you can’t face
There is no giant you can’t take
All of your tears were not a waste
Your one step away
Just when they think they’ve got you game set match
Oh here comes the comeback

This is your time your moment
The fire the fight or golden
You’ve come so far keep going
Oh here comes the comeback

We will all make a comeback at some point in our life.
It might be from injury and we comeback to exercise.
We might have had a horrible divorce and we comeback to a new loved filled relationship.
A loss and we comeback to a fulfillment beyond.
Addiction stole from us and we comeback to more than we could have imagined.
Or maybe we were asked to sit out for a season and then we comeback to a more God filled ministry.
The Comeback.
I think it’s important to note that the biggest comeback to date, is one that Jesus lived out.
God redeemed a very dark Friday night many years ago. When death and darkness appeared to be winning. But then a few days later. Victoriously the purest of light shined and life rose. Love won. Redemption was. Death defeated.
That is the biggest comeback ever!
Mine seems very small in comparison. But still victorious!

Aren’t they gorgeous?!? Thank you Engineer!

And to celebrate this sweet season of personal comeback, these arrived on the doorstep today.

I also went ahead and registered for an itsy bitsy little race.

Sunday I will run on purpose.
I will be grateful for every breath, every step and know without a doubt that God makes the impossible happen.
